Kohukohu has been designated as a heritage precinct.

The town has a number of important heritage sites such as the Masonic Lodge, the old school and New Zealand's oldest stone bridge as well as some fine examples of colonial houses and villas.

A new brochure showing the Kohukohu heritage walk is being produced at the moment.
